history, art and design?
History
Why do we have
history? Those who cannot remember the past are
condemned to repeat it. —George Santayana. To jot down every event that happens to remind the people not to repeat
the mistake as what they called it’s a must learning compulsory subject to be
taken for every single school to educate a successful person. Well, if everyone
could avoid from making mistake, what is the point of forgiving and learning
from the mistake personally? In addition, we can’t apply the decision that did
by the past emperor or the leadership of a country when making a decision that
may affect the whole situation of the nation by a country president. It can
only be a reference to us but not fully apply it, which has to be considering
the present situation.
Hence, the
education system is totally wrong just stuffing the history knowledge as
stuffing duck and indirectly diminished the initial sense of creativity and
making decision a youngster supposed to have in Asian country which is losing
the spirit and the purpose of learning history. The main purpose why from
past until now historians keep doing researching, jotting down and reorganize
the events happening everyday is hopefully that people of next generation who
study the history could find out the truth by the advanced technology and
mature mindset precisely get the one and only, real and tangible answer for
unsolved event. But not just blindly accepted it as a fact; it might not be the
final answer. History comes from Greek word” historia” which means inquiry.
Keep inquiring and investigate for a true answer eventually.
But the facts are
you will be finding out history fact shown or to be taught according to the
textbook is always boring (refer to most of the students) because they aren’t
controversial yet. We never discuss about the history facts but just blindly
follow. Different perspective comes from different people. Which means history
is a subjective thing. Who know its true or not? Is it because of the official
result would do the magic in making every event become a true event. Really did
the Apollo’s US astronaut landed on the moon? Roswell UFO incident does happened? Cannibalism culture in early china .Did Hitler escape away from the arrestment and he still alive? How
pyramid built up in Egypt, did someone (outsider) assist? Does hollow earth
exist? Shroud of Turin is true? Who created us? Why not included this
interesting topic but just ordinary fact.
Since the human
avaricious and selfishness lead people to create a story to cover a truth for
the own benefit and dignity, conspiracy and sugar coated history is become a
trend in this era as the tradition of history is fading and dulling. For
example, Nanking massacre has two different ways of announcement from Japan
(attacker) and China (victim). Different number of victims, different
standing point, time lapse of Nanking massacre different and uncountable
conflict element is still a controversial fact. Japan didn’t and wouldn’t
mention and bring the Nanking massacre topic into history textbook (briefly
introduce Nanking Massacre in really limited words even take this massacre as a
glory fight in Japan war, and some of the Japanese never admitted they have did
the massacre until a further investigation and evidence is done) and China
always recall back this tragedy and requiring apologies from Japan. Obviously,
different standing point voice out a different history is totally unreliable
nowadays. Influences of a country help you to pick what history you wanted to
believe. Its not history anymore but layer-by-layer cover made up with thousand
lies for the sack of country’s benefit.
The cold war
occurred between S.U and U.S has leaded both of this country created countless
of achievement to stand in an advantageous position and struggling for years.
From achievement of landing moon is a great leap for a human being as our great
spaceman Neil Armstrong has said a classic and famous quotations “This is one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.” after
successfully landed on moon. It’s truly a great remark in the space history.
But doubtfully have they really landed on moon? Or just for the reputation for
being No.1 Super country in the world’s sake and created an illusion, which
actually we have never touched with outer space and space is still unreachable
some kind of conspiracy. Only the person who created this pioneering work
knows.
Another example
given that the spirit of history which investigating and inquiring for the
truth. The creator of “The Da Vinci Code”, “ Angel and Demon” and so on
controversial series, Dan Brown and also the creator of “The Holy Blood and the
Holy Grail”, Henry Lincoln share a comment effort which is never blindly follow
but come out with a spectacular perspective on questioning controversial issue
discussed regard the historical Jesus married Mary Magdalene and the
hidden message in the Da Vinci’s masterpiece of Mona Lisa and The Last Supper.
As mentioned, history has different perspective from different kind of people.
Of course Catholic and Christian will bash it as it seriously offended. But, if
everyone was just like accepted the history heritage from the early period year
by year without repudiate and questioning the heritage and follow it, history
will be meaningless if a event is actually wrong at the beginning? Brown and
Lincoln might also wrong about the assumption. Who knows? But at least it
giving us a great impact on the history and leading people to question and to
think, which the former historian expecting.
Above facts has
clearly stated the history nowadays from the moment greedy and self-beneficial
has risen is keep twisted the tradition of history.
Where do we come
from? A lot of scientific study/experiment has proved the origin of human being
or mythology in bible or record (historical record) from any different kind of
religion has explained the form of a human being. By giving themselves a really
satisfactory and perfectly explanation of life and death. And yet, have we ever
thought that the world we are living now is not real. Maybe we are just
reflected from the parallel universe. Again, only by discovering and
investigating the history which is a clue to us left by an unknown form, could
be people or third kind intently to let us find out and trace back who are we
actually came from, how are we created, who’s the creator and so on.
So, in the
meanwhile you studying on history, have you questioned it?
Art
Art is a vivid
expression to express him or herself insight or personal feeling in an abstract
way or reality to embody present situation, environment or event. Its odd that
only if you understand the background and the situation at that time of the
artist, we will clearly comprehend the message and the present feeling that
artist wanted to convey in deeply. For example, famous impressionist Vincent
Van Gogh, one of his famous art piece Self-portrait with bandage. You might not
know this masterpiece was created in the meanwhile Van Gogh’s ear was injured
due to the suffering from mental illness and depression until cuts off the
lower part of his left ear with razor. That’s why this self-portrait only
showing no ear of him. And the chair with candle is the impression to one of
his friend who love reading in that formal chair under candlelight. It will be
easier by understanding and experienced you in the drawing after study an
artist’s life and background.
An art piece
without containing any soul and just following the flow, pointless, stereotype,
stiff and is to pleased a majority, it wasn’t so called an “Artwork”. What
makes people to appreciate your art piece is because the unique and the special
element which make you to express in drawing way, not just nice to look at it
with applying gorgeous skill but the story, meaning, message or the truth
behind the painting brings the valuable part of work. Resonance will make
people appreciate even offering impressive prices to a certain artwork that
truly embody a certain attitude because its a masterpiece would be once in a
blue moon, something you encounter. Would a hypocritical
art piece gain people attraction or just to pleasing to crowd?
It’s clearly explained the importance of without losing your soul.
Design
Design, could be
saying as a tool to enhance and improve people life quality. In the way of
improving people life quality is to solve problem. Its abstract because design
comes from a sophisticated mind and concept and turns out to be a practical.
Behind design, lots of high skill technic and well perceiving of the terms of
design. What is designing really are and what makes it able to change the whole
world is the main key to get succeed well. Think big! The revolution of design
era from 30’ until now has walked out a big leap of how design can bring us.
The achievement that achieved by design that obviously can be seen is from home
appliance. From a broom or mop that using the theory of lever has developed to
vacuum cleaners. From a bulky chair (less comfort, redundant and occupying
space) developed into a modern swivel chair and foldable chair. So much great
and renovating examples of home appliance proved the magic of design enlighten
people looking forward and enjoy the greatness of design. Never think
that only design expert can do the magic, so do we! Design is always with us.
Only if well history background of design and creative idea, design will show
up and let us explore further, hence never stop imagining, researching and
thinking, even though its tough when your brain juiced out or certain
circumstances make you mourning, But everything is worthy for a lot of painful
experience underwent in order to get a better life. The desire of a human
being is infinite and beyond, so do the potential of design, it will never meet
the end like diving into a bottomless deep ocean due to the diversity and
variety of patterns bring up the quality of life.
Again, resonance
and well perception of what’s really people looking for from the design require
a lots of knowledge of history and also a good sense of aesthetic by not just
making design product is just practical but the outlook (packaging) to get
people attracted at the first sight. Without losing soul is again should
be emphasize to be an outstanding designer among the world. By having the above
good attitude, upgrade and develop the design from the history and create a
brand new element from the oldies. It will surprise us with a brand new
born creation.
In my belief,
design could change the world. Archimedes once said based on the
principle of the lever, Give me a place to stand on, and I will move
the Earth.” In my statement, “Give me design, and I will rule the
Earth!” It really does, Design is omnipresent! Whatever you name a product, it
must be designed. Imagine a world without logo, packaging, graphic, button
to control, aesthetic, creativity … Imagine Apple without Jonathan Ive, would
“Apple” still an “Apple” to us? Would we wearing or consuming crap without
the appearance of design? What are you without design? I bet you must be
living in dull and boring circumstances. Hence, to those who against or having
a strong mind regards to design is useless and blind alley… Well, welcome to
the boring and dryness world! So, design is a fundamental and basic need in our
life nowadays and the future without any doubt!
