In painting “ Vitruvian Man”
showed a naked man in 2 forms within a circle and a square geometric shape.
Circle indicated the infinity of the god and meanwhile square is represented
the steady telluric which is reliable. From my understanding, Vitruvian man isn’t
only talking about a perfect golden ratio of a man’s proportion with precise
figure and formula to calculate it in order to form an ideal proportion (8
heads measurement which bringing the concept into drawing human figure) or in
architecture perspective. Instead, It’s represented differences between human
being and god by using shape to differentiate the form of a human being and a
god. Two forms of action shown by a same man is indicated a transformation of a
human being into a go or a person who has gone through a certain journey in
order to become a god. The overlaying of these geometric shapes is indicated
the transformation between the human and god. Navel is the central point of
this painting. The length of one arm is 2 times long as the length of the height
of a man The penis is a division of two parts: Upper and bottom of the body. From
length of the head to the chest is a quarter of the body. The arms is equally
separated into 3 parts. In between the outstretched leg has formed a shape of
triangle.
Furthermore, the square symbolized human is living under a circumstances
control by someone (might be god). Hence, we are only able to move around in
the box (earth) and when we reached afterlife or a hero/ god transformation’s
journey. The circle Human and god have the similarity (head, navel, chest,
belly, hand, leg). Circle that represented the universe is untouchable space by
human, only god touching it. Maybe god also transformed from a human being is
what Leonardo Da Vinci interpreted in my assumption. Many gods’ figure is more
or less looked alike a human being, only that having an extraordinary power, do
even more than a human being could do. God in people mind always perfect and
flawless which reaching the circle (rounded shapes indicated perfectness,
without any blemish and is a indication of abundance).
